Property Details

I pay home expenses, you buy your own personal items and food (extra refrigerator for you). New home, I moved here in Nov. Was going to rent out the whole house for a few months and travel but realized I don't want to leave. I love it here. So I will share with you. Hope we'll start as house mates and turn into friends. Run of the house, if you like to cook and use kitchen gadgets this is the place! My house is 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, living and kitchen combo, utility and 2 car garage, good sized lanai but it has lots of furniture, I hope to entertain often. I got rid of everything except my clothes when I left Oklahoma so had to start over. I loved big furniture and old glass framed paintings, now I have switched to smaller everything and much is a bit abstract. My kids are wondering who is this lady, and what did you do with our mom? The problem for you might be that I like my house clean and neat and I want a roommate who will keep their bathroom and bedroom clean. I am not obsessive, but if you make a mess you need to clean it up.
The Villages is a very active community, that is probably why you are visiting. Moved into Shady Brook Village because the Villages is moving south. In case, like me when I came, you don't know much about the Villages (I opened the internet, looked for a retirement area, booked a flight that day, rented a house in the middle of the Villages, and flew out to look at this development I knew NOTHING about) Shady Brook is very far south, the area where all the new building is going on, probably 40-50 minutes to drive to the northern end of the Villages. I am within walking distance of the new charter schools and go there to watch the high school kids sports, drama and music productions, I pretend I'm watching my grandkids. The Tracy Performing Arts Center is there, acts come in from all over but you have to buy a ticket to go to the events. Middleton downtown is across the street from the school, just opening, lots of shops, and restaurants, there are a bunch of activities planned for their square too but it is not considered one of "the squares". Eastport is the new square, building almost a mile from me, have opened outside sports activities but not ready to open stores, etc. From the north end of the Villages where it started, there are 3 main squares and Sawgrass (a hybrid, right now closest place with restaurants, bars, nightly bands and an area to dance), they all have a band 365 days a year, and Eastport will be way bigger than any of them. If you are a golfer this is your place. Golf everywhere! And the courses make it so pretty around the Villages. There are LOTS of rec centers, big, medium and small, and pools with other outside activities. There are 2 big, main rec centers (more and larger rooms, bigger variety of classes) about 4 miles away from me and many neighborhood centers 1-6 miles. When it opens Eastport will have the biggest rec center in the Villages plus a lot of other firsts. Our neighborhood center is Saluki (rooms for activities and all the usual outside sports)and it is about 1/2 a mile, an easy walk or golf cart ride away. You need a car, I think, anywhere you live in the Villages if you want to do much. I take classes all over the place, if something sounds interesting and it is within 15 miles I will sample it. Now that I am settled I'm tying to cut out regular class type things farther away, except for monthly parties that can be held anywhere. Since I moved to Shady Brook I do not go to the far north by Spanish Springs for regular weekly activities any more, dropped those clubs. But I still drive to the north part of the Villages because that is where all the "big shopping venues" are. Yea, a brand new Costco and Walmart are much closer to the south part of the Villages.
Please consider joining me. Have golf cart, will travel! If you want I can be a great guide and resource, teach you a lot about the surroundings, you can tag with me if you desire or go your own way immediately. Hope you love the Villages, it is a very active 55+ community with over 160,000 residents (many part time), you can be as busy or as chill as you want to be. Welcome to the Villages, and where ever you rent let it be the perfect situation for you. Enjoy! Again, welcome to the Villages
Sharon
